I was going to make that very point!
i was sitting at the meeting last night looking for more things to be critical about (lol!)..
the year text is "come to me...and i will refresh you"-matthew 11:28. as i was staring at the text as it hung on the wall, i looked over at a married teenage couple who were disfellowhipped for "poking" prior to marriage.. okay, they had sex before marriage.
but they did get married.

Okay, they had sex before marriage. But they DID get MARRIED. Yet, they were still DF'd.
Ah, so refreshing to get shunned for making a so-called mistake!

Article from The Post:
April 11, 2002 -- A 66-year-old devout Jehovah's Witness was caught in the crossfire and killed by gun-toting drug dealers as she got off the bus on her way home from services, police said yesterday.
Relatives said longtime Bedford-Stuyvesant resident Gloria Aiken Logan was never fearful of the crime and drugs that surrounded her Quincy Street apartment.
"She had no fear. She always said the Lord would protect her," said her sister Janette McFarlene of Maryland. Logan was shot in the head Tuesday night after getting off a bus around the corner from her home.
Family and friends gathered at Logan's home to pay their respects to her grieving son, 26-year-old David Logan, who was too distressed to speak about his mother's death.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly called the shooting death "a terrible tragedy. The woman was not involved . . . She was just getting off the bus."
Logan, one of six brothers and six sisters, immigrated to the U.S. from Trinidad 34 years ago.
She worked mostly as a baby-sitter and loved to cook for family and friends, said her sister. Logan had been attending the Kingdom Hall on Madison Street for at least 20 years.
"No matter how depressing the situation would get, she would always be positive," said her grieving sister. "She always looked on the bright side."
Logan lived in a three-story brownstone apartment house with her two brothers and son. The family moved in three years ago and were working together to renovate the building.
Police were canvassing the neighborhood.
Trevor Herne, A 24-year-old man from North Babylon, L.I., was believed to have been arguing with the shooter and was shot in the leg. Cops said they found drugs nearby.
Cops said the two men were fighting when Logan got off the bus.
"She was walking in the opposite direction and was behind one of the men. She was walking away when one of the shots hit in her the head," said a police source. At least three shots were fired.
Herne told police he was being followed when he was wounded. However, police say Herne was being "uncooperative" in helping them find the shooter. Herne is in stable condition at Kings County Hospital.
"I'm in disbelief," Logan's niece Natala Prince, 22, said. "The tears can't even flow. I can't believe she is gone."
Prince said her aunt was the matriarch of the family. "She was the mother of everyone. She helped raised all her nieces and nephews. Her goal was to always keep the family together. She taught me that nothing comes easy in life, and without God, nothing can be done."
I am from Philly and I currently live in Eastern Montgomery County.

Please accept a big...no...a BIGGS hug from me.
my sister went to the circuit assembly this past weekend here in bklyn ny.. they had a young sister on the platform helping to promote pioneering.the interesting point about this is that this young sister is attending college full time and actually said this in front of the audience.she brought out that she is going to college full-time and that since she "has only one more year left, she will wait to pioneer when she is in her last year of college because maybe then it probably won't be so hard.
" these were her exact words.. i find this to be very interesting.
those of us who have done parts or experiences or talks for circuit assemblies know that each talk and each part is scrutinized in practice sessions prior to the assembly in front of the circuit overseers.
Hi, worf!
My wife is from Flatbush and I've been to that assembly hall quite a few times. 946 is a small amount for that assembly hall.
My wife used to go to Park Circle.
worf- Feel free to e-mail me if you are from the area and we can talk more.

Hey, Lisa!
I posted a whole thread about the reason's why one can seperate from their spouse (in fact, YOU were the one who kept asking me to start it! LOL!)
Anyway, in addition to the other's comments on THIS thread, I want to say that nothing is mentioned about EMOTIONAL abuse.
Misleading bastards!
not that i am advocating one church over another.
rather, i'm just trying to make the point that other religions (such as the two cited below) have an organized preaching work.
jehovah's witnesses use the reasonings of, "who else carries out the commission to preach?

Jehovah's Witnesses use the reasonings of, "Who else carries out the commission to preach?" When you try to show them that others indeed do follow the commission to preach, they will then reason that they are not teaching Bible truths. Of course the definition of 'Bible truths' is open to interpretation. If someone believes what the Witnesses teach, then that someone would believe that the Witnesses teach Bible truths. The same can be said for Mormon's, Adventists, and so forth.
Of course, how would any religious organization grow if it didn't preach in one capacity or another?
